Sadaqah, derived from the root word sidq (truth), means any charitable act done sincerely for the sake of Allah. The concept of Sadaqah goes beyond monetary charity—it includes all good deeds. As the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Every good deed is a Sadaqah.” (Sahih Muslim 1006)
Sadaqah is meant for those who cannot meet their basic needs. As mentioned in the hadith, “Take from their wealth to give to their poor.” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 2522) This includes people in poverty who lack resources to support themselves.
Sadaqah Jariyah refers to continuous charity that benefits others long-term. Examples include building a well or donating land for public use. As long as people benefit, the donor continues to receive rewards, even after death.
Zakah is a specific, obligatory form of charity that every Muslim must give from their excess wealth. It’s one of the five pillars of Islam and means “purification.” Giving Zakah purifies both wealth and the heart, helping reduce greed and selfishness.
We do not accept zakah because the hand pumps are used by the entire communities from different religious backgrounds.
Sadaqah ensures that wealth circulates throughout the community, benefiting those in need and balancing economic inequalities. Allah has entrusted the wealthy with the responsibility to help the less fortunate through Sadaqah, which also serves as a test of faith for both rich and poor.
Spending in the path of Allah earns immense rewards. As Allah says: “And why should you not spend in the cause of Allah, while Allah is the inheritor of the hea
There is no minimum amount required for Sadaqah. Even a small act, like giving a dollar or sharing food, is meaningful. Allah says in the Quran, “You will never achieve righteousness until you donate some of what you cherish.” (3:92)
Yes, you can give Sadaqah from anything you own. Umar Bin Abdul Azeez (Umar II) would buy sugar and give it to charity because he loved it, teaching that the best charity is what you give from what you love most.
Yes, Sadaqah can increase wealth. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Spend, and Allah will spend on you.” (Sahih Muslim 993a). This means that giving Sadaqah will not diminish your wealth, but rather Allah will multiply it.
Absolutely. Allah promises to provide for those who give Sadaqah, even in times of hardship. Spending for Allah’s sake during tough times can attract His mercy and ease your difficulties.
A person is considered poor if they do not possess enough wealth (nisab) after covering their basic annual expenses. The poor rely on others for support, while the rich are self-sufficient.
The Miskeen are those in dire need, but who do not ask for help out of self-respect. The Prophet (PBUH) said they are the most deserving of Sadaqah, as they silently endure hardship. Ek Plate Biryani ensures that donations are discreetly given to preserve their dignity.
This refers to giving Sadaqah for any cause that benefits Islam or humanity. Allah says: “The men and women who give charity and loan Allah a goodly loan—it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.” (57:18)
Sadaqah Jariyah continues to benefit you even after your death. As the Prophet (PBUH) said: “When a person dies, all their deeds end except for three things: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, and a pious child who prays for them.” (Sahih Muslim)
Yes, Sadaqah can be a means of seeking Allah’s mercy and healing. Allah promises that what you give in charity will be repaid to you in full. “Whatever you spend in charity will be repaid to you in full.” (2:272)
