The fear of losing yet another child is always looming on their heads.
The women and older children take up the responsibility of walking 3 to 4 hours on average every day to bring drinkable water for their families from closeby cities or villages.
The water is then stored for the day and used very carefully.
Storing this water at room temperature for longer durations results in growth of bacteria and viruses……making them sick.
When we hear about a place lacking clean water, we only see the tip of the iceberg.
There are a myriad of problems related to water:
- Poor Hygiene
- Insufficient Food & Malnutrition
- Water-Borne Diseases
- Low Immunity
- Excessive Time Consumption (which could otherwise be utilized for education and economic activities)
- Affected Quality of life
Clean water is what the people in Thar do NOT have.

Even though Thar is a fertile desert, due to unavailability of water, most villages cannot grow sufficient crops even for their food.
Womenfolk and children have to walk 3 to 4 hours each day to go to nearby villages or towns to bring back clean water for drinking and washing.
A little support is all they need.
Deep-Well Hand Pumps In Thar: A Lasting Water Solution
There is only one solution to all their problems: Water.
